Chief Michael Utz began his employment with the Garden City Police Department in September of 1984 as a patrol officer. He has worked as a Detective, Sergeant of Professional Standards, Detective Sergeant, and Lieutenant in Investigations. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Friends University. Captain Utz served four years in the United States Air Force. The last two years of his military career were spent with the Drug Suppression Team in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He currently serves as the Police Chief.
Captain Courtney Prewitt began his career with the Garden City Police Department in May of 1999. Captain Prewitt has served in the positions of Field Training Officer, Master Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Community Response Division Sergeant and Senior Sergeant. Captain Prewitt is responsible for the Special Weapons And Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team having served as Entry, Sniper, Less-Lethal, and Team Leader. Captain Prewitt has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Law Enforcement from Washburn University.
Captain Michael Reagle began his career with the Garden City Police Department in August of 1996 after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps. Captain Reagle has served as a Field Training Officer, Bicycle Officer, SWAT Team Leader, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Sergeant in the Office of Professional Standards, and is currently the Commander in charge of the Community Response Division. Captain Reagle earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Friends University.
Captain Michael Radke began his employment with the Garden City Police Department in March of 1997. Captain Radke has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, SWAT team member, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, and Senior Sergeant. Captain Radke graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a comprehensive Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
Captain Randy Ralston began his employment with the Garden City Police Department in August of 1996 as a patrol officer. Captain Ralston has held the rank of Field Training Officer, Master Patrol Officer, Detective, SWAT Team Leader, and Sergeant. He earned an Associate degree of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from the Garden City Community College and a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Central Christian College. Captain Ralston currently serves as the Commander of the Office of Professional Standards.
After graduating from Wichita State University in 1990, Director Fairchild began her employment with the department as a Communicator. She worked in Communications for eight years, three of those years as a supervisor. She transferred to the Records Section in 1998 as the Records Supervisor. In December of 2000 she was appointed Support Services Director and is in charge of the Communications and Records Sections.
